LAKEWOOD, Wash. – Portland Pilots rowing swept the varsity races at the Puget Sound Invite on Saturday, two varsity eight boats and the varsity four boat taking first. Portland's varsity third and novice four boats took second while the second novice four took third.
 
This is the first wins of the year for the two varsity eight boats and the varsity four. The first varsity eight boat dominated with a time of 6:59.9. Leahbelle Paladino was the coxswain while Kate Feustel served as the stroke.
 
Both the second and third varsity eight boats raced next, with the second varsity eight taking first with a time of 7:11.1 and the third varsity eight right behind at 7:14.8. Clarissa Gutierrez was the cox with Mina Mihaijlovic as the stroke in the second varsity eight boat, while Natalie Petty and Madi Quinton served the same roles respectively in the third varsity eight boat.
 
The varsity four and first novice four boat raced next, taking first and second. The varsity four finished with a time of 8:15.9 followed by the novice four at 8:26.8. Emma Hanson and Gabriela Garcia were the coxswain and stroke for the varsity four while Bella Valenzuela and Sofia Meyer filled the same roles for the novice four. The second novice four took third in their race at 9:08.3, with Megan Holland and Ava Ripp as the coxswain and stroke.
