FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Despite picking up 10 hits in the ballgame and out-hitting Arkansas, the Portland Pilots lost to the No. 3 Razorbacks 5-3 Sunday. The Razorbacks officially swept the series.
Ryan Rembisz (2-1) started for Portland (5-11) and took the loss. Curtis Hebert was a bright spot for the Pilots, starting the ballgame and throwing 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits, with two walks and six strikeouts.
Offensively, three Pilots recorded multiple hits on the day, led by Zach Toglia's 2-for-4 outing with a home run. The homer was his third of the year. Cody Nitowitz and Cole Katayama-Stall each went 2-for-4 on the day as well.
How it Happened
Trailing 3-0 early, the Pilots first put runs on the board in the second inning. Zach Toglia came across to score the lone run of the inning on a groundout to get Portland on the board.
The Pilots' deficit expanded to 4-1 before their offense got back on the board in the fifth. Jace Miller came across to score the lone run of the inning for Portland on another groundout, making it 4-2 Arkansas.
Arkansas built their lead to 5-2 before Toglia's leadoff home run off Landon Beidelschies. Despite outhitting the Razorbacks and a dominant relief appearance from Hebert, the Pilots couldn't get any closer, falling 5-3.
Game Notes
» The Pilots out-hit the Razorbacks at a 10-7 clip.
» Portland pitchers faced 34 Arkansas hitters in the game, allowing three ground balls and 12 fly balls while striking out eight.
» Toglia led the Pilots at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI. Toglia is the first Pilot to have at three home runs on the year.
» Curtis Hebert allowed no runs in his relief appearance and just two hits. He added six strikeouts as well.
» Cole Katayama-Stall enjoyed his third multi-hit game of the week on Sunday.
