GOLD RIVER, Calif. – Championship season is here, with the Portland Pilots set for the 2025 WCC Rowing Championships this weekend, May 16-17 at Lake Natoma in Gold River.
With an expanded field that includes Sacramento State, Oregon State and Washington State, racing at the WCC Championships has been split into two days. Teams will bring two varsity four and two varsity eight boats to Lake Natoma, with two heats for each set of boats and eight races total on both days. The top three in each heat on Friday will advance to the Grand Final for their respective races on Saturday, with all boats finishing fourth or lower racing in the petite final. Races on Saturday will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Pilots most recently raced at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships (WIRAs), seeing all boats through to the grand finals where all respective boats placed second. Four Pilots earned All-WIRA honors, with Kate Feustel and Mia Kilmister earning first team honors and Molly Spraker and Tania Hernandez earning second team. The Pilots also took first in races at the Portland Invite and Puget Sound Invite earlier this season for six wins in total.
