PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Pilots rowers Kate Feustel, Mia Kilmister, Molly Spraker and Tania Hernandez earned ALL-WIRA honors for their performance at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships. Feustel and Kilmister made the first team while Spraker and Hernandez made the second.
All three Pilots earn honors for the first time in their careers. Feustel and Kilmister have both been mainstays of the first varsity eight, Spraker has been a part of the second varsity eight and Hernandez the varsity four. Feustel was the stroke for the first varsity eight with Kilmister in the seven-spot for WIRAs two weekends ago while Spraker handled the six-spot for the second varsity eight and Hernandez the bow of the varsity four. All three boats took second in their respective grand finals.
WIRAs was the most recent race for Portland, a regatta that saw Portland taking second in all grand finals and the novice four earn their first win of the season in the first day of racing. The Pilots have also earned wins at the Portland Invite and the Puget Sound Invite as well, winning six races in total across the year.
The WCC Championships are next, with the Pilots racing the other WCC teams across two days between May 16-17. Check PortlandPilots.com for more information.
