SEATTLE, Wash. --  Portland senior Meagan Pearson won her singles match, but the Pilots dropped a 6-1 decision to the Washington Huskies in women's tennis action Saturday at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.

Pearson, a senior from Kirkland, Wash., made the most of her homecoming with a three-set win at the No. 6 spot against Zehra Suko. Pearson defeated Suko 6-4, 4-6 and then 10-8 in a third set super tiebreaker.

Pearson and teammate Nadine Arbaizar Martinez were also leading at No. 3 doubles 5-4 in an unfinished match after Washington secured the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.

Pilot senior Alaia Rubio Perez pushed Washington's Erika Matsuda to three sets at the top of the singles lineup. Matsuda, ranked No. 66 in singles, pulled out the win by a 10-7 margin in the third set.

The Huskies (3-0) won the other four singles matches in straight sets.

The Pilots will take a break before returning to action with three matches in Southern California Feb. 20-22. Portland will visit UC Irvine, take on TCU in a neutral site match and then conclude the trip against UC Riverside.
