SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Portland Pilots forward Alex Waggoner was named the WCC Offensive Player of the Week, making it five weeks in a row that a Pilot has earned a player of the week award. It's his first time winning the award this season.
Waggoner takes home the honor after netting the first brace of his college career. Waggoner scored twice against the Denver Pioneers, who were undefeated in WCC play heading into the match. He is just the third Pilot to score multiple goals in a match this season. Waggoner now has four goals on the year and has scored in each of the last two matches he's played.
The Pilots are on a roll, earning victories in each of their last six contests. It's their longest winning streak since 2016. The Pilots are 7-3-2 overall and 4-0-0 in WCC play, marking their first 4-0-0 start in conference since 2022. Their plus-11 goal differential against conference opponents is their best in the first four matches since 1992 and their 17 goals total in conference are the most in program history through those opening four games.
Portland's next contest is on the road, with the Pilots traveling north to take on the Seattle U Redhawks. The two teams play on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
