KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Portland Pilots Men's Soccer continues to climb up the rankings, now sitting at 12
th in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll. The Pilots were ranked 21
st in last week's poll.
The Pilots move up in the rankings after another undefeated week that saw them clinch the West Coast Conference regular season title. It's the first time they've won the title since 2016 and just the seventh title in program history. They defeated the Seattle U Redhawks 3-0 on the road and the Santa Clara Broncos 5-2 at home to clinch the title and extend their winning streak to eight matches, the longest winning streak for Portland since 1992.
Portland now sits at 9-3-2 overall and 6-0-0 in WCC play. This is the first time in program history they've been undefeated in WCC play through six games, and their 25 goals and plus-17 goal differential against conference opponents are also a first.
Earlier this season, the Pilots were ranked sixth in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Preseason Poll and ranked as high as third in the poll. Their No. 6 ranking was their highest in the preseason poll since 1996. They were ranked in the top 10 of the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 all of last year from September onwards.
The Pilots are back in action this weekend with a road contest against the Pacific Tigers. The two teams play on Halloween at 7 p.m. in Stockton. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats and video options.
