CORVALLIS, Ore. – Portland Pilots Women's Basketball play their final regular season road games this week, taking on the Oregon State Beavers on Thursday, Feb. 19 and the Seattle U Redhawks on Saturday, Feb. 21. Thursday's game will tip off at 6 p.m. and Saturday's game at 1 p.m.

PEEK INTO THE PORT
- The Portland Pilots are 15-11 overall and 9-5 in WCC play after splitting the week against the Washington State Cougars and the Santa Clara Broncos.
- The Pilots overcame a low-scoring first quarter to defeat the Cougars on the road 68-61 before falling 77-66 to the Broncos at the Chiles Center.
- Against the Cougars, the Pilots scored just two points in the first quarter but hit seven 3-pointers the following quarter to pave the way for a stellar win.
- Rhyan Mogel scored a career-high 20 points with a career-high four 3-pointers as well. She's just the second Pilot to score 20 points in a game this season.
- Florence Dallow and Dyani Ananiev both scored in double digits with 12 and 11 points respectively. It's the 12th time Dallow has hit the mark and the 15th time for Ananiev.
- Jada Kennedy grabbed a career-high nine rebounds as well.
- Against the Broncos, the Pilots played a back-and-forth game before Santa Clara took control in the final quarter.
- Lainey Spear scored a team-high and career-high 20 points in the contest, becoming just the third Pilot this season to score at least 20 points in a game this season.
- Spear scored 16 of her 20 points in the second half as well.
- Dallow added 13 points and nabbed a career-high nine rebounds in the process.
- Mogel also added 10 points in the game to round out the double-digit scorers.
- The Pilots found success with the long ball, hitting eight 3-pointers to stay in the game.
- The Pilots lead the West Coast Conference currently in blocks per game (5.9), assists per game (17.3), turnovers forced per game (20.7) and steals per game (11.0) while ranking second in bench points per contest (24.2).
- Nationally, they are eighth in blocks per game, 28th in assists per game, 29th in turnovers forced per game and 38th in steals per game.
- Julia Dalan leads the nation in blocks per game (3.4) and ranks sixth in total blocks (65) despite not playing since January. She is first in the conference in both categories.
- Dalan is the only player in the nation to have at least eight blocks in multiple games this season.
- Dalan is just one block away from tying the freshman record for Portland set by Rosemary Adams in the 1990-91 season. Dalan has the most blocks by any WCC freshman since the 2017-18 season.
- Dyani Ananiev also leads the WCC right now in both total steals (63) and steals per game (2.5), ranking 51st and 54th nationally in the two categories.
- Ananiev leads the Pilots in scoring at 10.7 points per game with Dallow close behind at 10.4. The Pilots have six players who have played at least 15 games and are averaging over seven points a game.
- Spear is close behind in the steals category, grabbing 2.1 steals per contest to rank fourth in the conference.
- Nicole Anderson is ninth in the conference in 3-pointers per game at 1.9. Her 48 made 3-pointers are tied for the 22nd most by a Pilot in a single season.
- Mogel ranks fourth in the WCC in both assists per game (4.8) and total assists (119) and is also second in assist/turnover ratio (1.8).
- Mogel was the fastest Pilot to 100 assists in a season since Haylee Andrews in the 2021-22 season.
- The Pilots were picked to finish fourth in the WCC this season, with Ananiev named to the All-WCC Preseason Team.
- Ananiev played in just 10 games last season, averaging 7.4 points per contest along with 1.8 steals. She was a 2023-24 All-WCC Freshman Team selection.
- The Pilots return eight players from last year and add seven newcomers.
- Of the eight returners, none started a game last year. Rhyan Mogel and Lainey Spear are the only two players to have played in every game, with Mogel's 20.6 minutes leading all returning players.
- Florence Dallow, Natalie Fraley, Tiffany Barbosa, Ella Zimmerman and Caitlin Monahan also all return.
A LOOK BACK AT HISTORY
- The Pilots had a historic season in 2024-25, finishing 31-5 overall and 17-3 in WCC play to win a share of the 2024-25 WCC Regular Season Title. It's their fourth title, either tournament or regular season, in six seasons.
- Their 31 wins were a program record and their 17 wins in WCC play were also a new high for the program.
- Last year, they made the WCC Championships final for the fourth time under head coach Michael Meek and also qualified for the WBIT for the first time in program history.
- In the WBIT, they beat the Stanford Cardinal and the Seton Hall Pirates on the road to advance to the quarterfinals before falling to Villanova Wildcats in that round. The wins were the first ever road playoff wins for the Pilots, the first win ever over Stanford and the first ever over a Big East squad.
- Portland led the way in numerous statistical categories last season, leading the conference in points per game (75.7), scoring margin (12.4), steals per game (10.3), turnover margin (4.56), free throws made (16.44), free throw percentage (16.44), free throw attempts (21.08), assists per game (17.3) and assists-to-turnover ratio (1.16).
- Nationally, they were fifth in free throws made per game, 16th in free throw percentage, 21st in assists per game and free throw attempts, 34th in assist-to-turnover ratio and steals per game and 35th in points per game and turnovers forced per game (19.47).
- The Pilots set numerous program records at the Division I level, with the most points (2,726), points per game (75.7), field goals made (946), free throws made (592), free throw percentage (.780), rebounds (1,288), defensive rebounds (844), offensive rebounds (444) and assists (620).
MEEK AT THE HELM
- Michael Meek is in his seventh season as head coach of the Portland Pilots.
- Meek has been dominant through six seasons, winning WCC Tournament titles in 2020, 2023 and 2024 and the regular season title in the 2024-25 season.
- Meek has won at least 20 games in five of his six full seasons as head coach of the Pilots, including a program record 31 wins overall and 17 WCC wins in the 2024-25 seasons.
- Meek is 375-108 in his career dating back to his time at George Fox. He is 145-73 in his time with Portland.
- Meek ranks ninth among all active coaches in NCAA Division I with at least five seasons of experience in winning percentage at .776
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
- The Oregon State Beavers are second in the WCC at 18-9 overall and 10-4 in WCC play, most recently defeating the Pacific Tigers in Stockton.
- The Beavers won the WCC Tournament final over the Pilots last season, finishing the year 19-16 overall and 12-8 in WCC play. They lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last year to the North Carolina Tar Heels.
- The Beavers were picked as the preseason favorite to win it all this season in the annual WCC Preseason Coaches Poll, with Tiara Bolden, Catarina Ferreira and Kennedie Shuler all making the preseason team.
- Bolden and Shuler are both scoring in double digits this season at 12.4 and 12.7 points respectively. Shuler stuffs the stat sheet with 5.1 boards, 5.4 assists, 2.1 steals and one block per game.
- Jenna Villa is the leading scorer for the Beavers this season at 15.0 points per contest.
- Scott Rueck is in his 16th year with the Beavers, having posted a 334-179 record in that time span. He's made the NCAA Tournament nine times with the Beavers, including three Elite Eight appearances and a Final Four appearance in 2016.
- Rueck coached the George Fox Bruins prior to joining the Beavers. Rueck was succeeded by Pilots head coach Michael Meek, who led the Bruins from the 2010-11 season through the 2018-19 season.
- The Seattle U Redhawks are 5-20 overall and 1-13 in WCC play.
- Last year in the WAC, they went 4-26 overall and 1-15 in WAC play. The Pilots beat the Redhawks last year 78-55 at home.
- The Redhawks were picked to finish last in the conference in their first year.
- Skyler Young is in his third year as head coach of the Redhawks. A former assistant coach under Pilots head coach Michael Meek, he is 19-69 in three seasons.
