RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Portland women's tennis team pulled out a thrilling 4-3 road victory over the UC Riverside Highlanders Sunday afternoon at the SRC Tennis Courts. The Pilots won the doubles point and got singles wins from Kylie Canubida Dariya Radulova and Lexie Flores to secure the victory.

Portland won a challenging doubles point that went down to the wire. Alaia Rubio Perez and Nadine Arbaizar Martinez recorded a 6-3 win at the No. 1 position, but UC Riverside picked up the win at No. 2 doubles. Megan Pearson and Maria Galatescu then clinched for the Pilots with a tiebreak win against Crystal Kim and Kaia Paulo at the No. 3 spot. The doubles point proved to be the difference as the teams would split the six singles matches.

Canubida picked up her first dual singles win of the season with a comfortable 6-4, 6-2 defeat of Sam Condevillamar at No. 6 to double the Pilot lead. UCR answered with a win at No. 5, but Radulova followed quickly with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Kei Kato at No. 2.

The final three matches all went the distance and the Highlanders made it a 3-2 score with a three-set win at No. 3.

Portland sophomore Lexie Flores came up clutch and provided the match-clinching point with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 comeback win over Susannah Su at the No. 4 position.

The Pilots will look to carry the momentum into a road meeting against crosstown rival Portland State on Sunday. The match will be played in Beaverton at the Babette Horenstein Tennis Center with a 10 a.m. start.
