A PEEK INTO THE PORT
- The Portland Pilots sit at 13-10 with a 7-4 WCC record, having beat both the Saint Mary's Gaels and the San Diego Toreros last weekend.
- The Pilots routed the Gaels 68-42 for their biggest win in WCC play this season.
- Nicole Anderson led the way with 18 points and six made 3-pointers. Both totals are season highs for Anderson while her six 3-pointers match a career high.
- Anderson's 3-point total is the highest by a Pilot this season and the most by any Pilot since 2023.
- The Pilots shot 62.5% from 3-point land on 10 makes, which is their best percentage from outside in a game since 2013 when they hit the same percentage against Washington.
- Portland's 42 points allowed are the fewest they've conceded to a Division I team this season.
- With 21 assists, the Pilots posted at least 20 assists for the eighth time this season.
- The Pilots didn't allow a single 3-pointer for the second time this year.
- Against the Toreros, the Pilots trailed by double digits deep into the third quarter but made a furious comeback to win 64-59.
- Florence Dallow poured in a career-high 18 points and matched her career high with eight boards. She's led the Pilots in scoring four times this season.
- Jada Kennedy and Dyani Ananiev were the other two double-digit scorers for the Pilots at 12 points each. The duo also swatted away a combined 12 shots, with Kennedy adding four blocks and Ananiev three.
- Kennedy was stellar across the whole weekend, averaging 10 points, 7.5 rebounds and four blocks per contest. Her standout performances earned her WCC Co-Freshman of the Week honors for the first time this season.
- Kennedy has been stellar as a starter, averaging 9.3 points, seven rebounds and three blocks a game since moving into the starting five. She's one of just six players to have tallied four blocks or more in multiple games this season.
- The Pilots rank among the conference's best in numerous categories, leading the WCC in blocks per game (6.5), turnovers forced per game (21.3), assists per game (17.6) and steals per game (11.4) and rank second in bench points per game (25.7).
- Nationally, they are fourth in blocks per game, 22nd in turnovers forced per game, 26th in assists per game, 29th in steals per game and 35th in bench points per game.
- Julia Dalan leads the nation in blocks per game (3.4) and ranks third in total blocks (65) despite not playing the last four games. She is first in the conference in both categories.
- Dalan is just one block away from tying the freshman record for Portland set by Rosemary Adams in the 1990-91 season. Dalan has the most blocks by any WCC freshman since the 2017-18 season.
- Ananiev leads the conference in both total steals (58) and steals per game (2.6), ranking 44th and 43rd in the two categories respectively. She is also the leading scorer for the Pilots at 10.9 points per game.
- Lainey Spear has also been a stellar defensive presence, averaging 2.2 steals per game to rank third in the conference. She posted eight steals in a game against Seattle U earlier this year, the most by any Pilot in a game since 2017.
- Spear came just one shy of the program record for steals in a game. The last Pilot to record nine steals in a game was Spear's mother, Kristin, who did so in the 1997 season.
- Anderson has lit it up from outside this year, averaging two made 3-pointers a game on 36.5% shooting. Both numbers rank third in the conference with her 46 total 3-pointers leading the team.
- Rhyan Mogel ranks fourth in the WCC in assists per game (4.9) and total assists (108) and ranks 39th in assists per game nationally. Her 1.86 assist/turnover ratio ranks second in the conference as well.
- Mogel was the fastest Pilot to 100 assists in a season since Haylee Andrews in the 2021-22 season.
- The Pilots were picked to finish fourth in the WCC this season, with Ananiev named to the All-WCC Preseason Team.
- Ananiev played in just 10 games last season, averaging 7.4 points per contest along with 1.8 steals. She was a 2023-24 All-WCC Freshman Team selection.
- The Pilots return eight players from last year and add seven newcomers.
- Of the eight returners, none started a game last year. Rhyan Mogel and Lainey Spear are the only two players to have played in every game, with Mogel's 20.6 minutes leading all returning players.
- Florence Dallow, Natalie Fraley, Tiffany Barbosa, Ella Zimmerman and Caitlin Monahan also all return.
A LOOK BACK AT HISTORY
- The Pilots had a historic season in 2024-25, finishing 31-5 overall and 17-3 in WCC play to win a share of the 2024-25 WCC Regular Season Title. It's their fourth title, either tournament or regular season, in six seasons.
- Their 31 wins were a program record and their 17 wins in WCC play were also a new high for the program.
- Last year, they made the WCC Championships final for the fourth time under head coach Michael Meek and also qualified for the WBIT for the first time in program history.
- In the WBIT, they beat the Stanford Cardinal and the Seton Hall Pirates on the road to advance to the quarterfinals before falling to Villanova Wildcats in that round. The wins were the first ever road playoff wins for the Pilots, the first win ever over Stanford and the first ever over a Big East squad.

- Nationally, they were fifth in free throws made per game, 16th in free throw percentage, 21st in assists per game and free throw attempts, 34th in assist-to-turnover ratio and steals per game and 35th in points per game and turnovers forced per game (19.47).

- Meek has won at least 20 games in five of his six full seasons as head coach of the Pilots, including a program record 31 wins overall and 17 WCC wins in the 2024-25 seasons.
