LAKEWOOD, Wash. – The Portland Pilots had a stellar showing at the Puget Sound Invite, posting wins in all races on the day except for one.
 
The varsity eight started the Pilots off strong, posting a time of 7:07.3. Leahbelle Paladino was the coxswain and Julia Kiplinger was the stroke. The second varsity eight followed with a time of 7:36.8 for the win, with Natalie Petty and Isabella Honig as the coxswain and stroke respectively.
 
The four-person boats saw the Pilots take first and second in the varsity races and second in the novice race. The first boat, coxswained by Bella Valenzuela with Averie Zealley as the stroke, took first in the varsity race while the second boat finished with a time of 8:16.9, with Emma Hanson as the coxswain and Megan Eckels as the stroke, to take second. The novice four finished with a time of 8:39.5, with Helena Tran as the coxswain and Jenn Hacking as the stroke.
 
The Pilots will race again at the Dexter Invite at Dexter Lake, hosted by the Oregon State Beavers. The Pilots will race on March 28. Stay tuned to PortlandPilots.com for more information.
