MALIBU, Calif. – Meagan Pearson won her singles match, but Portland dropped its second straight road match to a ranked opponent with a 6-1 defeat to No. 6 Pepperdine Sunday at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.

Pearson, a senior for the Pilots (6-8, 1-3 WCC), defeated Liam Oved 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 in a super tiebreaker at No. 6 singles. Pearson has now won six of her last seven singles matches.

The Waves (13-4, 4-0) earned the doubles point with a 6-0 win at No. 1 and 6-2 victory at the No. 3 spot to open the scoring.

Pepperdine featured three top 40 singles player in their lineup and cruised to straight set wins at the top five singles positions.

The Pilots continue WCC play at home next week. Portland welcomes Pacific on Thursday at 10 a.m. and then Saint Mary's on Saturday at 10 a.m. Visit PortlandPilots.com for live scoring and video links.
