VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Portland Pilots swept their races at the Portland Invite on Saturday, taking wins in every event. It's the second time this season they've earned wins on all varsity events.
 
Portland started the day with a win in the varsity four race, with both competing boats finishing ahead of the Seattle U Redhawks. The A boat for the fours finished first with a time of 8:06.7 while the B boat took second with a time of 8:17.3. Bella Valenzuela was the coxswain for the A boat and Sam Kronis the stroke, while Reegan Gardiner was the coxswain for the B boat and Megan Eckels the stroke.
 
In the second varsity eight race, Portland's A boat once again took first with a time of 7:20.2, with Natalie Petty as the coxswain and Averie Zealley at the stroke. The Santa Clara Broncos and Seattle U took second and third respectively while the B boat for Portland took fourth, posting a time of 7:39.1. Emma Hanson was the coxswain and Molly Manfred was the stroke for the B boat.
 
The final race was for the first varsity eight, with the Pilots winning by 11.3 seconds with a time of 6:58.0. Leahbelle Paladino was the coxswain and Julia Kiplinger the stroke.
 
The Pilots will be back in action two weekends from now at the Triton Invitational in Chula Vista, Calif. Racing will run that whole weekend from April 25-26. Stay tuned to PortlandPIlots.com for more information.
