KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Portland Pilots goalkeeper Miguel-Angel Hernandez has been named to the 2026 United Soccer Coaches Goalkeepers Watch List on Friday. The list highlights the best goalkeepers in the nation entering the 2026 season.
Hernandez was stellar in goal for the Pilots last year. An All-WCC Second Team selection and All-West Region First Team pick, Hernandez posted a .624 goals-against average and a .786 save percentage for Portland, with his save percentage ranking first in the conference and his GAA second. He was 28
th and eighth nationally in those respective categories. His nine shutouts were the most by a Pilot goalkeeper since 2022 and Portland's 12 goals allowed were the fewest by any Pilot team since 1988.
The Pilots are coming off a stellar 2025 season that saw them make the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for the second time in four seasons. They finished 14-2-4 overall and 6-1-2 in WCC play, ranking as high as first in the country for the first time in any poll since 1992. They finished the season ranked sixth in the nation, their highest postseason ranking ever in the United Soccer Coaches poll. The Pilots posted their highest win percentage since 1988 (.800), allowed the fewest goals scored since 1988 (12) and set a season assist record at 56.
