KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Portland Pilots Men's Soccer continues to rack up the preseason accolades, with three players named to the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List: Miguel-Angel Hernandez, Joe Highfield and Diego Rosas. They have the most players on the watch list of any team in the nation.
Hernandez adds to his honors after being named a goalkeeper to watch by United Soccer Coaches. Hernandez earned All-WCC Second Team honors last year and All-West Region First Team recognition after posting a .624 goals-against average and a .786 save percentage, leading the conference in the latter category and ranking second in the former. He was 28
th nationally in save percentage and eighth in GAA. Portland's 12 goals conceded were the fewest they've allowed in a year since 1988.
Highfield has earned several honors this preseason, making the United Soccer Coaches Forwards to Watch list, the All-WCC Preseason Team and the TopDrawerSoccer Preseason Best XI. Highfield ranked second in the WCC in goals (11) and points (27) last year while ranking 19
th and 18
th nationally in the two categories. He earned All-WCC First Team, All-West Region First Team and United Soccer Coaches All-American Third Team recognition all last season.
Rosas rounds out the Pilots on the watch list. Rosas broke the program record last season for assists (15), leading the nation in the category as well on his way to earning WCC Midfielder of the Year honors. He was also an All-West Region First Team selection and a TopDrawerSoccer Best XI pick. Rosas was ranked 10
th on TopDrawerSoccer's Top 100 players list, earned All-WCC Preseason Team honors and was named a midfielder to watch by United Soccer Coaches. He made TopDrawerSoccer's Preseason Best XI as well.
The Pilots were picked to finish first in the WCC this season with four players named to the preseason All-WCC team, tied for the most in program history.
