PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots played well but couldn't quite find the go-ahead goal, drawing the No. 23 Oregon State Beavers 0-0. The draw puts the Pilots at 1-3-2 on the season.
The shutout is the second for the Pilots this season, with two saves from Miguel-Angel Hernandez helping make it happen. The Pilots were aggressive, posting 14 shots with four on goal and 11 corner kicks. This is the third straight unbeaten result for the Pilots against the Beavers.
How it Happened
Portland put pressure on the Oregon State defense from the jump. They outshot the Beavers 9-3 in the first 45 minutes, with a header from Michael Dunne and a shot from Diego Rosas nearly breaking the plane for a goal.
The Pilots followed the same script in the second half, with David Ajagbe nearly breaking through twice for a goal. Ajagbe's header in the 62
nd minute almost gave them the go-ahead goal, and he followed that soon after in the 65
th with a sliding kick that was saved by John Nicolson. The Pilots and Beavers ended in a 0-0 draw.
