CHENEY, Wash. - Portland Pilots Volleyball took the victory over the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners, kicking off the Eastern Volleyball Invitational with a win. The Pilots took the Roadrunners in four sets (25-17, 25-19, 19-25, 25-17). Maui Robins surpassed 1,250 carer kills and recorded a double-double.

How It Happened
SET 1 | Portland put down 15 kills in the first set, with Robins and Chock recording four kills each. The Pilots had a set high of three service aces and Robins and Woodward-Hart recorded two digs each. Hoeft recorded 12 of her 37 assists and Pilots had a five-point run, taking Portland from a two-point lead to a seven-point lead. Portland took the set 25-17
SET 2 | Robins spiked down six kills with a .600 hitting percentage in this set and Portland had five total blocks, three of which came from Shaylee Stephen. Robins and Hildenbrand had four digs each and the Pilots won the set 25-19
SET 3 | Portland recorded 12 total digs, a set high. Robins had three kills with Diehl Palmer and Kaauwai recording two kills each. Hoeft had a solo block and Hildenbrand had one service ace. Portland played a close match until the Roadrunners were able to pull ahead, taking the set 25-19
SET 4 | The Pilots recorded four three-point runs in the last set and Diehl Palmer put down a set high of five kills with a .500 hitting percentage. Robins had five of her 11 digs and Chock put away one service ace. Portland took the set at 25-17, winning the match.

The Pilots stay in Cheney to play their next game in the Eastern Washington Volleyball Tournament against the Nevada Wolf Pack on Friday, Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. at Reese Court. They finish the weekend out on Saturday, Sept. 19 and go head-to head with host team Eastern Washington at 3 p.m.
