PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Pilots Women's Soccer saw their three-match unbeaten streak come to an end with a 1-0 defeat to the Pepperdine Waves. The loss puts Portland at 4-6-0 on the year and 0-1-0 in conference play.
The goal scored against the Pilots was the first they've allowed in three games. Sophia Hills had six saves on the day as well. Portland scored once, with the goal called back after VAR determined a foul on the play.
How it Happened
After both teams went scoreless in the first half, the Waves broke the tie with a goal in the 49
th minute. Pepperdine set up for a free kick and got the score on a header from Lily Stewart, making it 1-0 Waves.
Portland seemingly evened the score in the 70
th minute after a shot from Xayla Black from well outside the box sailed into the back of the net. But the goal was recalled after VAR determined a foul on the play prior to the shot. The Pilots couldn't find the equalizer, falling 1-0
