SAN JOSE, Calif. - Portland Pilots Volleyball fell to the San Jose Spartans in five sets, their first loss of the season (25-11, 23-25, 25-19, 19-25, 9-15). Havannah Hoeft set a new career high of 15 digs in one match.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Pilots started the first set off strong and led with an 11-5 gap by the first timeout. Portland had 14 kills and five service aces with Lillian Lansing putting down two aces in a row. Portland laid out a hitting percentage of .650 and the Pilots won the set 25-11
SET 2 | Chock and Lansing both had five kills in this set and the Pilots had another team set-high of 14 kills. Portland made for a close game toward the end of the set, but the Spartans managed to pull forward and take the set 25-23
SET 3 | Portland had three blocks and 10 kills in the set, with Chock's five kills leading the way. Hoeft recorded four of her 15 digs and Portland won the third set at 25-19.
SET 4 | Portland had two aces and 12 kills. Chock knocked back five kills for a third time in one set and Diehl-Palmer had four kills. San Jose won the set at 25-19, and sent the match into a fifth set.
SET 5 | Portland put down five kills and two blocks in the last set. The Pilots managed to keep within two points of the Spartans until the Spartans took a lead of 12-9. The Spartans were able to take the set at 15-9.
