SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Portland Pilots saw four players earn 2024 WCC Women's Soccer All-Conference honors on Wednesday, with goalkeeper Bre Norris and defender Katana Norman making the first team, midfielder Cally Togiai making the second team and winger Jillian McBride making the freshman team. Norris was also named the WCC Goalkeeper of the Year for the second year in a row, making her the first Pilot to win the award twice.
Norris has won the goalkeeper of the year award each of the last two seasons, becoming the first Pilot to win a WCC award multiple times for their career since 2007 and just the third Pilot ever to do so. She earns the honor after yet another stellar year that saw her lead the conference in save percentage (.823) while also ranking second in goals-against average (.909), total saves (79) and shutouts. Earlier this year, Norris broke the program record for saves in a career, now sitting at 279, 16 more than the next closest Pilot.
Norman makes the first team for the first time in her career after earning All-WCC Honorable Mention last season. Norman was one of two Pilots to start every match for Portland, playing a crucial role on the back line. She posted four assists on the year as well, posting two games with multiple assists this year. A captain for Portland, she helped guide a defense that allowed the second fewest goals on average this year (.850).
Togiai matched career highs on her way to her third All-WCC honor. Her second team selection comes off the back of a year that saw her lead the Pilots in total points, tallying six goals with four assists for 16 points. Her six goals match a career high for goals in a season. Two of those goals proved to be game-winners, with her scores against Saint Mary's and Nebraska getting Portland the win.
McBride is the final Pilot to earn honors this year, making the freshman team. McBride was a disruptive force in the attack for Portland, playing in all 20 matches with eight starts. She is the only Pilot freshman to play in all 20 matches this season. She tallied a goal and two assists on the year.
The Pilots finished 9-5-6 overall this season, making it four years in a row they've posted a record with at least nine wins. This is the first time they've maintained a stretch with at least that many wins in a season since between 2010 and 2013. The Pilots finished seventh in the revamped WCC.
