LARAMIE, Wyo. --- Sophomore Ariel Usher posted seven kills but the Boise State Broncos swept the Portland Pilots 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-9) Friday afternoon at the UniWyo Sports Complex. Junior Kati Hronek added six kills and sophomore Madison Smith contributed 14 assists.
Portland (4-4) received four kills from junior Marissa Plummer as Smith and Usher posted four digs apiece. Hronek and freshman Mckenzie Oliver each had two blocks.
Liz Harden posted a game-high nine kills for the Broncos (7-2) and Breann Nesselhuf added 27 assists as the Broncos posted a .305 hitting percentage. Kersti Whitney recorded five service aces. Sadie Maughan led all players with seven blocks.
Portland continues tournament play tomorrow with an 8 a.m. match against Northern Colorado (7-2). The Pilots conclude the UniWyo Cowgirl Classic with a 4 p.m. match against UT Arlington (3-5).
