It’s been a while since my last blog. I was very fortunate to go home for Winter break and spend some quality time with family and friends. For those who don’t know, my home happens to be in paradise - Hawai’i. The worst part of break was the rain; it rained like it does in Portland the only good thing is it isn’t as cold so I managed to enjoy the break none the less. I even managed to get to the beach on sunny days.
Back in school, it is my last semester EVER! It is a shock and a relief but I really think that I will miss being a student. For now, I am biding my time with lots of school work and my final golf season of my collegiate career. As many of you may already know, the golf programs were cut from the athletic program last semester but we are able to finish out the spring season. Sadly, we have lost a few of our players and are left with only four girls; luckily it turns out to be just enough because all we need are four girls to compete as a team.
To start the season off, we flew out to Phoenix, Arizona and then drove north to Sedona. On the way up to Sedona, we stopped at a little place called Rock Springs Café because they are famous for their amazing pies.
Driving further north we reached Sedona. Sedona is known for beautiful red rock. Here is a picture of one of the most popular stops in Sedona, the Chapel of the Holy Cross.
Currently on the team are two seniors, myself and Bridget Gleason, who are preparing for graduation. Then there is McKennon O’Rourke who is a junior and has one semester left, so she will finish up schooling at UP. Lastly, there is Sara Banke who is only a freshmen and going through the process of recruitment all over again. So far only one other girl that used to be on the team, Rachael Fischer transferred to Oregon State University.
Unfortunately, the weather derailed some of our golf plans and the tournament host (NAU) decided to cut out our practice round and move up our playing days. So instead of three days of golf, we only had two. But changing the tournament turned out to be smart, because as predicted, it snowed on the last day we were there.
The team didn’t play great, but not having a practice round threw us off. Hopefully at our next tournament in Fresno, we do better.
