ENTRY #10: Cassandra Thompson
Wednesday, January 25, 2012
Hello there Pilot fans!
I’m Cassie and I am here to update you on what the Pilot women’s basketball team has been up to! First off I would like to further introduce myself. My name is Cassandra Thompson, I am a freshman forward from Athol, Idaho, and I hope to major in nursing.
Last week was the kickoff of the second semester. As some of us were excited to be starting school, some of the others were ready for it to be over before it even began. The first week was a struggle between starting new classes, morning weights and getting ready for our road trip that Wednesday, but it’s what we deal with to play the game that we love!
We freshies have to represent!!!
As some of you may know, the Pilots got to leave snowy/slushy Portland last week to play a conference game in sunny San Diego. We led almost the entire game until we unfortunately let the W slip through our fingers in the last three minutes. Your Pilot’s ended up losing that game by six points. :(
The next day, we were off to Provo, Utah to take on the Brigham Young Cougars. Being her alma mater, Assistant Coach Jazmine Foreman knew all the right stops when it came time to eat. I am not sure if many of you know, but we Pilots LOVE our food. The overall team favorite was most definitely the Texas Roadhouse. We got some delicious bread (Byrd loved it so much she took a basket to go), threw some peanut shells on the floor, watched some country line dancing and much more. On the way out of the restaurant we noticed that while we were eating it had snowed a few inches! Most of the players on our team live where it does not snow so you can see how this occasion would raise some excitement. The pictures tell it all… :)
Sadly enough, we left our road trip with two conference loses. It was a rough weekend, but your pilots are going to fight back and get the W this Saturday at 1:00 PM against Loyola Marymount University. Hope to see you all there!
Until next time, GO PILOTS!!!
Cassie
