PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland’s scheduled baseball game against the Oregon Ducks at PK Park in Eugene, Ore., on Tuesday night has been postponed due to rain. The Pilots and Ducks have re-scheduled the non-conference game for May 23 at 6 p.m. in Eugene.
The Pilots are coming off a two-game sweep of Creighton last weekend. Portland won on Friday 3-2 in dramatic fashion before claiming Sunday’s game 5-3. On Friday, Turner Gill hit a game-tying, two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Kris Kauppila then won it for the Pilots with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning.
Portland freshman left-hander Travis Radke had a stellar outing on the hill on Sunday, while Kauppila, Caleb Whalen and Brian Frattali each left the yard. Radke allowed just two hits in 5.0 innings, while striking out six.
The Pilots next set their sights on the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners this weekend. Portland and CSU Bakersfield are set to play a three-game series in Bakersfield, Calif., with the opener scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday night. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
