PORTLAND, Ore. --- Tuesday’s scheduled baseball game between the Portland Pilots and No. 19 Oregon State Beavers at Joe Etzel Field has been called off due to the wet weather. UP and OSU will try to re-scheduled the game, with a date to be determined.
The Pilots will now head to Northern California for a three-game West Coast Conference series against the Santa Clara Broncos this weekend. Friday’s series opener is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Stephen Schott Stadium, while first pitch is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday.
At 14-5 overall, the Pilots have matched the second best record after 19 games in program history. The Pilots feature one of the top pitching staffs in the nation as they rank second in the country in team ERA (2.09) and are third nationally in hits allowed per nine innings (6.65). Opposing hitters are batting just .211 against UP pitchers.
