Box Score Liger and Usher Navigate Pilots to Sweep over Southern Utah

LOGAN, Utah --- Sophomore outside hitter Emily Liger continued her impressive tournament run on Saturday, leading the Pilots in kills for the second straight match as Portland picked up their first victory of the 2012 season with a sweep over the Southern Utah . Senior outside hitter Ariel Usher tied Liger in kills with nine kills on a .360 attacking percentage.
 
Liger picked up right where she left off on Saturday, tallying five kills in the first set to give the Pilots (1-2) a 25-22 victory and a 1-0 advantage. Usher then joined the assault in the second set, aided by junior Christina Harris, who tallied six kills on just 10 swings during the match.
 
Junior outside hitter Autumn Wedan added six kills with a team-high 15 digs as Portland cruised to 25-17, 25-18 wins in the second and third sets.
 
Portland’s stay at the Utah State Invitational concludes on Saturday night with a 4:00 p.m. match against Utah State.
