Gaels Keep Pilots at Bay in WCC Match-Up
 
MORAGA, Calif. --- Senior outside hitter Ariel Usher tallied seven kills with four digs, but the Portland Pilots lost their second consecutive West Coast Conference match on Monday night as the Saint Mary’s Gaels swept Portland. The Gaels took each set 25-13 at the McKeon Pavilion.
 
Portland falls to 6-10 with an 0-2 record against WCC opponents while Saint Mary’s improves to 6-7 overall, 1-1 in the WCC.
 
Usher led the Pilots in kills for the seventh time this season with her seven kills on .273 hitting percentage.
 
Leading the team with a career-high .294 attacking percentage on the season, Usher has now posted a .273 hitting percentage or better in 11 of 16 matches this season. With just one error on the night, she has also committed two or fewer attacking errors in five of the last seven matches.
