ABOUT THE PILOTS
Â
· The Pilots (0-18) are heading south to take on LMU and Pepperdine after being at home last week against BYU and San Diego. The Pilots head to sunny California in search of their first win of the season.
· Last Thursday against the WCC leading Cougars, the Pilots held strong, but would eventually lose in three sets. In the match senior Autumn Wedan led the Pilots with 13 kills and 8 digs while sophomore Emily Liger tacked on 8 kills.
· On Saturday against the number 11 ranked Toreros, the Pilots went down 2 games to none, but would make a serge to win the third game. The late match push was not enough as the Pilots would eventually fall 25-16 in the fourth game to lose the match. Senior outside hitter Autumn Wedan would lead the way for the Pilots with 20 kills and 7 digs; freshman Makayla Lindburg added 13 kills.
· After the losses, the Pilots are now 0-9 in conference play.
· Wedan has been a bright spot for the Pilots this year, as she continues to add onto her already magnificent senior campaign. She now has a total of 294 kills on the season, which is an average of 4.52 kills per set — a clip that is still good enough to rank her just outside the top-10 in the country.
· Wedan is also averaging 4.90 points per set, which ranks her near the top-20 in the nation.
· Sophomore Emily Liger and freshman Makayla Lindburg have also been contributing to Portland's attack, as they have 164 and 156 kills on the season, respectively.
· Senior Setter Monica Jordan leads the team in assists with 638, while junior Katie Mardesich is the team-leader in digs with 236.
