ABOUT THE PILOTS
Â
· The Pilots (0-20) are heading back home to take on USF and Santa Clara this weekend after a trip down to Los Angeles and Malibu last weekend to take on LMU and Pepperdine. The Pilots return home in search of their first win of the season.
· Last Thursday against Loyola Marymount the Pilots got off to a strong start winning the first set 25-14, but would drop the next three sets as LMU would take the match three games to one. The Pilots were led by senior outside hitter Autumn Wedan who had a match-high 23 kills and freshman Makayla Lindburg hit an additional 12 kills.
· On Saturday against the Waves of Pepperdine, the Pilots would again win the first game 25-16 but would fall in the next three sets to lose three sets to one in Malibu. Wedan led the way for the Pilots with 15 kills and added 10 digs for the double-double, while fellow senior Monica Jordan had 35 assists.
· After the losses, the Pilots are now 0-11 in conference play.
· Wedan has been a bright spot for the Pilots this year, as she continues to add onto her already magnificent senior campaign. She now has a total of 317 kills on the season, which is an average of 4.59 kills per set — a clip that is still good enough to rank her just outside the top-10 in the country.
· Wedan is also averaging 4.99 points per set, which ranks her near the top-20 in the nation.
· Sophomore Emily Liger and freshman Makayla Lindburg have also been contributing to Portland's attack, as they have 169 and 168 kills on the season, respectively.
· Senior Setter Monica Jordan leads the team in assists with 673, while junior Katie Mardesich is the team-leader in digs with 247.
