· The University of Portland's volleyball team will play host to Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount this week.

ABOUT THE PILOTS
Â
· The Pilots (0-11) traveled down to California last week to take on St. Mary's and Pacific, but were unable to come away with a victory.
· Portland fell to St. Mary's last Thursday by the score of 25-23, 25-10 and 25-19. Senior outside hitter Autumn Wedan had a stellar performance with 14 kills and an attacking percentage of .243.
· UP then took on Pacific on Saturday, but fell to the Tigers 25-16, 25-19 and 25-18. Wedan led the way for Portland again with a team-high 11 kills and 12 points.
· Wedan also extended her streak of leading the team in kills to 11 games this season, and finished with 25 in the two road games.
· Wedan leads the team in kills with 184. Her 4.84 kills per set ranks her in the top-10 of the country. She also averages 5.33 points per set, which is the 11th-most in the country.
· Senior setter Monica Jordan leads the team in sets with 382, and junior libero Katie Mardesich is the team-leader in digs with 151 on the year.
· The Pilots are now 0-2 against the WCC to start the season.

ABOUT PEPPERDINE

· The Waves have started the season 6-4, but are coming off back-to-back losses against Santa Clara and San Francisco.
· Pepperdine's most recent match was a loss to San Francisco by a score of 16-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-14 and 15-6. Junior outside hitter Katie Messing led the way for the Waves with a team-high 20 kills and an attacking percentage of .292.
· The Waves have a balanced attack, as three players have at least 100 kills on the season: Messing (135), Kelly Larsen (120) and Taylor Racich (104).
· Sophomore setter Becca Strehlow is the assist leader with 294 on the season, while freshman defensive specialist Ryann Chandler leads the team in digs with 105.
· Strehlow's 11.26 assists per set also ranks her 25th in the country, and junior middle blocker Samantha Cash's 1.58 blocks per set is the sixth-most in the NCAA.
· Head coach Nina Matthies is in her 31th season with Pepperdine, and owns an overall record of 581-336.
· The last time Pepperdine faced Portland was last season when the Waves beat the Pilots in straight sets at Chiles Center.

ABOUT LOYOLA MARYMOUNT

· The Lions have started the season with a record of 7-4, and are in the midst of a four-game winning streak where they have won by a combined score of 12 games to 2.
· Loyola Marymount's most recent game was a 3-2 victory over Santa Clara. Senior outside hitter Kathleen Luft finished with a game-high 23 kills and an attacking percentage of .370.
· Luft and junior middle blocker Litara Keil lead the team in kills with 116 and 121 respectively, while sophomore setter Hannah Tedrow has a team-high 311 assists on the season.
· Senior defensive specialist Betsi Metter averages .91 aces per set, which is the second-most in the country.
· Head coach Tom Black is in his fourth season with the Lions, and owns an overall record of 54-48.
· The last time the Loyola Marymount faced Portland was last season when the Lions claimed a 3-0 victory at home.
