THIS WEEK
• The Pilots will be hosting the 2015 North Harbour Marriott Invitational. St. Francis Brooklyn, Idaho, and Cal Poly will all make their way to The Bluff for the two day invitational.
• First up, the Pilots will take on the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers on Friday late afternoon at 4:00 p.m. This will be the first meeting between these two programs.
• Portland will start Saturday off with a match at 10:00 a.m. against the Idaho Vandals. This is the 17th meeting between these two schools with the last encounter falling in favor of the Vandals last year in Moscow, Idaho.
• The Pilots will cap the weekend off with a 7:00 p.m. match against the Cal Poly Mustangs. The series between these two schools is in Cal Poly's favor 1-2.
• All matches will have live video and stats and can be found on PortlandPilots.com.
LAST WEEKEND
• Portland went 4-0 in the Portland Classic which was co-hosted with Portland State.
• The Pilots started the week off well with a come from behind win over Portland State on Wednesday 3-1.
• Friday's match featured the Pilots against the Nevada Wolf Pack. Portland won the match 3-1.
• On Saturday, the Pilots went undefeated in not only matches, but also in sets when they swept both Grand Canyon and UC Riverside.
OFF TO A HISTORICAL START
• The Pilots have not started the season off 5-1 since 1984 when the program competed at the NAIA level.
• Portland has won the last five matches. The last time the Pilots won five in a row was in 2004.
ABOUT THE PILOTS
• Portland has five freshman on the roster in Jocelyn Peterson, Lauren Naatz, Katie Barker, and Mikaela Nocetti. Hannah Troutman is in her first year on The Bluff after spending her freshman year at Oregon State.
• The team is still very young with only one senior on the roster in Emily Liger. The junior class is the largest class with five Pilots.
• Head coach Brent Crouch is in his second year at the helm. Joining him in her second year is Nellie Coleman.
AN EARLY WCC COMPARISON
• The Pilots currently lead the WCC in digs per set with 18.29 and libero Monica Gajda leading the way for Portland and fourth in the WCC with 4.71.
• Portland is in the third slot in service aces with an average of 1.62 per set.
• Katie Sullivan sits at fourth in the conference with her .392 hitting percentage and Hannah Troutman's average kills per set of 4.00 puts her at sixth.
• Setting those two up is Milovic who is second in the conference in assists with 11.57 per set.
