Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots hosted No.9 BYU in the Chiles Center for their regular season finale on senior day on Saturday afternoon. Though Portland fought a difficult last two sets, the Cougars topped Portland with scores of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-20.

Seniors Hannah Troutman and Sarah Savoca recorded two kills in the initial points of the first set to keep the Cougars within sights, but BYU produced a 9-1 run to extend their lead to 14-4 in the first set. Freshman Liz Reich then attempted to spark a comeback with a kill and a block with Sarah Savoca, but the Cougars continued to surge towards set point with two more runs to make it 23-9. The Pilots added four more points with a kill and ace from Troutman, in addition to kills from sophomore Katie Barker, and freshman Carey Williams, but Lyndie Haddock sealed the set for BYU with the final kill to win 25-13.

BYU jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second set before the Pilots produced an impressive seven-point run to take a four point lead. After a Cougar timeout, Portland maintained that momentum with a kill from Barker to make it 11-5 for Portland. BYU answered the Pilot surge with a comeback 12-2 run to surpass the Pilots, taking the lead. Savoca and Troutman added kills to break up the final Cougar points, but BYU had already caught fire, allowing McKenna Miller to seal the set 25-20.

The Pilots kept the Cougars close to start the third set with kills from Troutman and Thompson. Barker added an ace and Pukis a kill moments later to come within one of BYU at 7-6. The Pilots pulled ahead to 10-9Â after a Portland timeout, but Miller and Kennedy Steiding again leveled the score with kills. Reich and Barker registered an ace and kill to make it 12-12, and Troutman added two more kills to keep BYU within two. In the final points for the Cougars, Pukis and Thompson produced one more kill and ace to hold BYU at match point, but Miller clinched the final kill to end the third set 25-20 and complete the sweep.

Troutman led the Pilots with 16 kills on the match. Williams produced 10 digs and Thompson 30 assists.

The Pilots will finish up the regular season on the road next week for three road matches at Saint Mary's (11.16), Pacific (11.18), and Gonzaga (11.20).
