Southern California Intercollegiate Championships I Gonzaga Invitational Draws

Portland men's tennis had a busy day of action with a pair of Pilots competing at the Southern California Intercollegiate Championships and the rest at the Gonzaga Invitational.

In Los Angeles, senior Carlos Donat picked up an opening round straight sets win against Matheus Leite of Texas Tech, but then was knocked out of the main draw in the Round of 16 by nationally-ranked Jack Jaede of host USC. Sophomore Tom Hann, who won a qualifying match on Friday, fell to Stanford's Timothy Sah by a 6-4, 7-5 margin in the morning.

The pair teamed up for qualifying doubles, but lost to the BYU tandem of Brocton Andrus and David Ball in a tiebreaker.

Six Portland freshmen opened play in Spokane, Wash. in the opening day of the Gonzaga Invitational. Collectively, the Pilots finished 4-2 in singles and 2-3 in doubles. See below for complete tournament results thus far.

The Southern California Intercollegiate Championships continues with consolation matches on Saturday. The Gonzaga Invitational will play two more rounds of singles on Saturday and then conclude play on Sunday.
