PORTLAND, Ore. – University of Portland men's tennis has signed Anirudh Nallaparaju to a financial aid agreement, head coach Aaron Gross announced on Monday. Nallaparaju will join the Pilots as a junior after spending the last two seasons at Marist.
A native of Lyneham, Australia, Nallaparaju was a second team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) singles selection after helping the Red Foxes to an undefeated regular season league title before falling to Rider in the MAAC tournament title match. He posted a 12-5 singles record in the middle of the Marist lineup. Nallaparaju recorded a 6-6 singles record during his 2025 freshman campaign.
"Most of our guys are playing a lot of tournaments and training hard this summer as we prepare to compete without Nikola (Keremedchiev) next season," Gross said. "He was our number one player by committee to a degree last season, so it really helps to sign Anirudh as he has college experience playing at a high-level. He won't have that learning curve coming in like most freshmen. He's got some great ingredients to his game that I think we can help enhance even more and he's excited to be at Portland. This was a nice piece that we were missing to kind of round out our team for the coming season."
Nallaparaju joins freshman
Arham Mefta as members of the 2026-27 Portland recruiting class.
Keremedchiev was the lone senior on Portland's 2025-26 roster, which qualified for the WCC Tournament and recorded an 8-14 record against tough competition.
