PORTLAND, Ore. – University of Portland men's tennis has signed Arham Mefta to a financial aid agreement, head coach Aaron Gross announced on Thursday. Mefta, a native of Kirkland, Wash. and Juanita High School, will join the Pilots as a freshman next season.
Mefta was a four-star recruit in the class of 2025 according to TennisRecruiting.net and the No. 2 player in the Pacific Northwest region.
"We are really happy to have Arham commit to joining us next fall," Gross said. "He has had very good results in the Pacific Northwest. He hasn't had as much exposure nationally, but he has still managed to obtain nearly an 11 Universal Tennis Rating. Much like all of the Pacific Northwest kids that we get, I am sure we will see some huge growth quickly when he gets the opportunity to train with good players and play against tough competition every day.
"He is a lefty that moves well, and he is very eager to work hard and improve. I think it's a great fit for us and can't wait to have him on the court with us next fall."
The Pilots, who have just one senior on the 2025-26 roster in Nikola Keremedchiev, will conclude the regular season on Saturday against the Gonzaga Bulldogs with a 10 a.m. first serve at Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center. Visit
