"Sema had two very good wins in Flight A, including a victory against Gonzaga's No. 1 player from last year," Portland head coach Aaron Gross noted. "It was his best performance of the fall. Issa and Leo also had good wins in advancing to the finals of their respective brackets."
Meanwhile at the Southern California Intercollegiate Championships, senior Carlos Donat completed play with a win against Noah Dubort of San Diego by a 7-6, 6-1 margin. Sophomore Tom Hann dropped a 6-4, 6-3 consolation singles match to Texas Tech's Artem Kapshuk.
"Carlos got another win today over a good player from San Diego and Tom lost to a solid competitor from Texas Tech," Gross said.
Donat has completed play at the event, while Hann will play one more consolation singles match on Sunday against Victor Krustev from UC Santa Barbara before returning to Portland.
The rest of the Pilots will conclude play at the Gonzaga Invitational with both singles and doubles action on Sunday. See below for complete tournament results for both events.
