Box Score EUGENE, Ore. – Portland's impressive run at the Duck Invitational came to an end on Sunday as the Pilots conclude the fall tennis season with a lot of confidence. Portland was represented in all three title matches played on Sunday, but came up short in each event.

After a remarkable Saturday with a pair of three-set wins to reach the finals, senior Carlos Donat fell in straight sets to Oregon's Ty Gentry in the top flight finals.

Freshman Eleftherios Neos also won three matches to play for the championship of the Yellow Flight. He lost to Boise State's Simon Arca Costas on Sunday.

Neos and freshman Nicklas Oberg also represented the Pilots in the doubles championship, but were defeated by an Oregon tandem.

In set up matches on Sunday, Portland had a pair of impressive results from freshmen. Oberg knocked off Maximilien Blancaneaux, while Sema Pankin posted a victory against Wyatt Demulling.

"I think a combination of our tank running a little bit low and opponents playing really well against us was the story for today," Portland head coach Aaron Gross said. "On a positive note, Sema and Nick both pulled out nice three set wins against experienced Boise State players to end their freshmen fall seasons. Overall, we had a great weekend. We have gained a lot of valuable experience and a lot to work on in the off-season to improve us for the spring and beyond."

The Pilots will now prepare for the 2019 spring season which begins at Washington on Jan. 19 in Seattle.
