SARATOGA, Calif. --- The Portland Pilots Beach volleyball team competed against San Jose State, Monday afternoon at West Valley College, with the Spartans overcoming the Pilots 4-1.

"San Jose presents a good challenge with all of their pairs," said head coach Jeff Baxter. "We competed well across the board and are excited to get back on the sand in Portland for practice."

Senior Morgan Robinson and sophomore Katie Barker led the Pilots on the day, winning their duel as the 2's pair in two sets. Senior Sarah Savoca and junior Lauren Naatz also competed well for the Pilots, taking the Spartans to three sets, but were unable to secure the win in the final set.

The Pilots will next be in action on March 24, against Oregon in Salem, Ore.
