SEATTLE, Wash. --- The Portland Pilots beach volleyball team faced Boise State this afternoon at the Husky Beach Courts in Seattle, Wash. Boise State held off a comeback from the Pilots to win the match 3-2.
"It was a very tough match to end up losing," said head coach Jeff Baxter. "We played at a high level for a lot of today. Tons of credit to Boise and their execution. We're excited to play UW on their home sand tomorrow."
The Broncos went up 2-0 to start the day by winning the 5's and 4's duals. Freshman Carey Williams and senior Sarah Savoca then swept their dual 21-16 and 21-17, prompting sophomore Katie Barker and senior Morgan Robinson to level the match score 2-2 with another win at the 2's pair. In the final dual of the afternoon, sophomore Cali Thompson and senior Tani Stephens were unable to complete the Portland comeback, with Boise State clinching the final point of the day.
The Pilots will be back in action tomorrow at 3 p.m., facing Washington.
