PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland senior forward Julie Spencer was named to the All-West Coast Conference Women's Basketball Second Team, while guard Haylee Andrews landed on the league's all-freshman team, it was announced on Tuesday morning. This is the second straight conference accolade for Spencer, who earned honorable mention last season.
Â
Spencer, who originally hails from Chehalis, Wash., ranks fourth in the WCC in rebounding (7.9 rpg) and is sixth in scoring (15.4), and she led the Pilots in both categories. Spencer also registered a career-high seven double-doubles on the season, and she joined Portland's 1,000 career-point club. She currently has 1,156 career points, and she ranks third all-time in program history with 751 career rebounds, and she's No. 10 in career free throw percentage (.770). Earlier this year Spencer poured in a career-best 25 points during a win over Cal State Fullerton.
Â
Andrews is the No. 2 scoring freshman in the WCC with a per game mark of 11.6 points, and she leads the Pilots in assists (4.0 apg), while ranking second in rebounds (4.6). The native of Townsville, Australia, produced her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 assists during a home win over Warner Pacific, and she also dished 10 assists as Pilots nearly knocked off BYU. Her career-best 10 rebounds came against Utah State, and she scored a career-high 23 points during a win at Weber State, which was just her second collegiate game ever. Andrews is the first Pilot to land on the WCC All-Freshman team since the 2012-13 season.
