PORTLAND, Ore. --- The No. 20 Portland Pilots play their second and final and exhibition match of the season on Friday night when they host the Utah Valley Wolverines at Merlo Field. Kickoff for the friendly is set for 7 p.m.

The match is part of UP's Fall Orientation as the university welcomes students back to campus. The game will be preceded by the always popular Bite on The Bluff, which is a festival featuring local food trucks and vendors, music, games, drinks and fun. The game is Portland's final tune up before opening the regular season next Friday night. The Pilots are coming off a 3-0 exhibition win last Sunday over No. 22 Oregon State at Merlo Field as the home side received a pair of goals from two freshmen. Kevin Ogudugu opened the scoring with a goal in the 10th minute, and Jacobo Reyes pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 35th minute. Sophomore Alejandro Pereira, who assisted on Reyes' goal, scored Portland's final goal of the night in the 69th minute.
Â
Last season the Pilots made their second playoff visit in the past three years as they reached the second round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. This fall they return 17 players from that team, including all-west region selections Rey Ortiz and Gio Magana-Rivera. As a junior last season, Ortiz collected three goals and three assists in limited action, while also landing on the All-WCC Second Team. Fellow senior Magana-Rivera was an all-conference first-team pick after producing two goals and a team-best five assists.
Â
2018 WCC All-Freshman Team selection Jake Arteaga also returns for the Pilots, as does all-conference defender Esteban Calvo. Arteaga and Calvo, a senior, helped the Pilots record five shutouts in 2018. Arteaga added three goals last season, while Calvo registered one goal and three assists.
Â
Joining the Pilots is the nation's ninth-ranked recruiting class. Portland's 10 newcomers are the program's third straight top-10 recruiting class.
