PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots volleyball program is adding recruit Alyssa Muraoka to its indoor squad, announced head coach Megan Burton. Muraoka will join the Pilots from Honolulu, Hawai'i as a freshman in the fall of 2021.
Â
A libero at Mid-Pacific, Muraoka earned all-league recognition in both 2018 and 2019, captaining the Owls to win the ILH D2 Championship in 2018. That year Muraoka landed all-state honors, while leading her team in both digs and aces. In 2019, she led her team in both categories again, as well as in blocks, kills, and assists.
Â
Muraoka competed on the Aloha Region's Team Hawaii at the 2019 Rebisco National Tournament in Manila, Philippines, that finished in third-place.
Â
She also spent time on the HP A1 Women's Junior National and HP Beach U19 Girls programs this calendar year.
Â
"We are extremely excited to welcome Alyssa to the Pilot volleyball family," said Burton. "We knew immediately that Alyssa's personality both on and off the court would fit right in with our team culture. She is of outstanding character - striving for excellence in the classroom, on the volleyball court and in her community. Alyssa continues a tradition of talented ball control players from the Hawaiian Islands. As a fundamentally skilled player she will add solid serve receive and defensive play for the Pilots. Alyssa is the type of player that immediately makes those around her better with her tenacity to compete on every contact. She has a fierce passion for volleyball and a desire to learn at the highest level. Alyssa comes in ready to compete for a WCC conference championship with our Pilot family."
