PORTLAND, Ore. – Santa Clara made 12-of-23 three-pointers en route to an 85-61 win against Portland on Saturday in West Coast Conference basketball action at the Chiles Center. Isaiah White had 15 points and Tahirou Diabate added 14 points and eight rebounds, but five Broncos were in double figures as Santa Clara led from start-to-finish.
Keyshawn Justice was 5-for-6 from three-point range and finished with a team-high 17 points for the Broncos (18-6, 5-4 WCC). Jaden Bediako added 13 points and nine rebounds, while DJ Mitchell and Tahj Eaddy each had 12 points off the bench for Santa Clara. Trey Wertz also reached double figures with 11 points.
JoJo Walker had 12 points, four rebounds and five assists for the Pilots (9-15, 1-8). Freshman point guard Chase Adams collected four steals to go with six points, four rebounds and four assists.
Santa Clara was lights out shooting from the get-go, racing to an early 16-7 lead by drilling four early three-pointers and would take a 36-28 lead into halftime.
Portland went more than five minutes without a field goal early in the second half as the lead ballooned to as much as 28 points.
Santa Clara shot 53 percent from the field and had a 25-18 rebounding edge. Portland was held to 40 percent from the floor, 4-of-20 from three-point range and converted just 7-of-16 free throws.
