PORTLAND, Ore. – Aven Lee has joined the University of Portland volleyball program as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, head coach Megan Burton announced on Wednesday.
Lee has spent her last decade working in college volleyball at the Division 1 level, most recently being a member of the University of Hawai'i coaching staff as their Director of Operations. As a member of the Rainbow Wahine, Hawai'i reached the NCAA Tournament and finished 2
nd in the Big West consecutively from 2017 to 2018.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Aven Lee to our Pilot volleyball family and the University of Portland community," said Burton. "(Lee) is the right person to help our volleyball program develop great people in the classroom, on the volleyball court, and in the community."
"However, more impressive than her ability to recruit and coach at a high level, is her passion to mentor young women. She will bring with her a sense of 'Ohana, which is so important to our players, staff, and volleyball program. We are lucky to have Aven and it's another great day to be a Pilot!"

Prior to her time at Hawai'i, Lee has been an assistant coach at Sacramento State, Nevada and Pacific. Lee has been involved with USA Volleyball where she's coached at various USA High Profile camps and teams, including the 2009 Women's National A2 Team and the 2008 Girls Junior National A2 Team.

"I'm excited to work together as a staff, along with our student-athletes towards success on and off the court. I want to thank Scott Leykam, Karen Peters and last but not least Megan Burton for this opportunity. I'm ready to hit the ground running."
Lee played for five years at Hawaii, earning a 120-15 record over the course of her career, including a perfect 60-0 record in the Western Athletic Conference. Playing both as an outside hitter and defensive specialist during her career, Lee played in an NCAA champion match (1996), a Final Four appearance (2000) a Sweet Sixteen (1999), as well as four conference titles.
