PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland outfielder Jake Holcroft, who got off to a torrid start to the 2020 season before it was cut short, was named a
Collegiate Baseball Freshmen All-American, it was announced on Tuesday. Holcroft is the first Pilot to be named a freshman All-American since 2012.
In 16 games this spring, Holcroft hit an impressive .484 at the plate, which ranked third in the country. His 30 hits were the second most nationally, and he also collected seven doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 11 RBI's. He scored 20 runs and swiped four bases.
Holcroft, who originally hails from Upland, Calif., was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week on March 2 after hitting .688 (11-for-16) to help the Pilots sweep a four-game series from Stephen F. Austin. He also had two doubles against the Lumberjacks, he belted a homer, drove in four RBI's and scored seven runs.
Left-handed pitcher Travis Radke was Portland's most recent Freshman All-American, which happened eight years ago.
