Box Score EUGENE, Ore. – Portland doubles tandem Sema Pankin and Eleftherios Neos won their doubles semifinal match at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships held at the Student Tennis Center. The pair will not play in Sunday's title match and focus on next weekend's ITA Northwest Super Regional. Overall, the Pilots had a very successful tournament with freshman Julien Penzlin and three doubles teams qualifying for the ITA Northwest Super Regionals, which will be held Oct. 22-25 in Seattle.

Singles quarterfinalists and doubles semifinalists in the regional main draw will advance to Super Regionals. Pankin is already a singles qualifier for the Super Regional and will now be joined by Penzlin, who was knocked out of the singles draw in the semifinals by top overall seed Sasha Trkulja of Gonzaga on Saturday.
 
Pankin and Neos beat teammates Nicklas Oberg and Oscar Brown on Saturday in straight sets to reach the finals. Issa Yoshida and Leo Hibi were knocked out of the other semifinal by a duo from Gonzaga. All three of the Pilot doubles teams will head to the Super Regionals next week.

"It didn't go the way we wanted today," Portland head coach Aaron Gross said. "Pankin and Neos, but Leo and Issa struggled and Julien learned some hard lessons today in falling to an experienced, solid player. He had a great run to the semis in his first college event, but struggled with some of the things freshmen struggle with in adjusting to college tennis. Super important learning opportunity as we get everything we can out of this competition. Overall, we had a very successful weekend with two singles players and three doubles teams into super regionals next week."
