PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots women's basketball team has announced the first of their early signing period commits in Florence Dallow, a six-foot talent out of Auckland, New Zealand. Dallow will join the Pilots next fall as a freshman.
"We are thrilled to be adding Flo "Florence" Dallow to our roster," Portland head coach Michael Meek said. "She will bring incredible versatility, including the ability to play one through five. She is long, athletic and can guard multiple positions. Most importantly, she is a great teammate and the type of player that will fit incredibly well into our team-first culture. We are looking forwarded to developing her game and having the opportunity to work with such a great person and talent."
Dallow has much experience with the New Zealand Youth National Teams. In 2017, Dallow competed with New Zealand's U-14 squad that played in Australia and placed high at the FIBA Oceania Championships. She was also a part of the U-16 team that took second at the same event in 2018.
At the club level, the forward has played with the North Harbour Representative program since 2015. Her North Harbour team has thrived nationally in New Zealand, with her U-17 team taking third at nationals in 2019 and 2020 and taking fourth in 2021.
Dallow adds to the wealth of players that hail from the Oceania. The Pilots have seven players currently on the roster from Australia – the most in NCAA Division I basketball – and one other player from New Zealand in Emme Shearer.
The Pilots are 1-0 to start the year after their win over the 91-48 win over the UC San Diego Tritons. They are coming off back-to-back seasons above .500 for the first time since 2011 and back-to-back postseason berths for the first time since 2010.
Portland will be back in action this Saturday against the Weber State Wildcats as part of a doubleheader with the men's team. Tipoff for the men's game is set for 5 p.m. while the women's game will start at 7:30 p.m. Check PortlandPilots.com for live stats, video and ticket options.
