PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots women's tennis team took the doubles matches and one singles match, but ultimately fell to the Montana Grizzlies 5-2. The loss drops Portland to 1-4 on the season.
Portland took the No. 2 doubles match first with a dominant 6-1 victory. The win marked the third straight victory for the pairing of Neli Sunjic and Rimona Rouf. The Pilots followed that up with a win in the No. 1 doubles match to secure the doubles point.
Sunjic was involved in both points for the Pilots. She earned the lone victory in the No. 2 singles match 6-2 and 7-5. The singles win marked the first of the season for Sunjic.
The clinching point came in the No. 5 singles match between Rimona Rouf and Ivayla Mitkova. The freshman fought hard, but Rouf could not take down Mitkova and fell in straight sets.
