TUSCON, Ariz. – Portland Pilot Baseball relief pitcher Peter Allegro has been named a Collegiate Baseball News Pre-Season All-American, making the second team. He is the first preseason All-American for the Pilots during head coach Geoff Loomis's tenure.
Allegro was one of the best relief pitchers on the west coast, recording 13 saves in 24 appearances for the Pilots, good for first in the conference and ninth in the nation. Allegro posted a 2.76 ERA and a 4-2 win-loss record as well. He sits at 16 saves for his career, which is third in program history. He earned All-WCC Second Team honors last season and made the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team, becoming the first Pilot, along with Brett Gillis, to do so since 1992.
The Pilots are coming off one of the best seasons in program history, going 32-23 overall with a 17-10 record in WCC play. It was their best conference record ever and also their best overall record since 2010. Their second-place finish in the WCC – their highest ever – earned them their first ever berth to the WCC Tournament, where they finished third.
