SEATTLE, Wash. – For the first time this spring season, the Portland Pilots took first in two events at the Husky Open on Montlake Cut in Seattle. Both varsity eight boats took first place while the varsity four finished second in their race.
The second varsity eight was the first boat to claim the top spot, finishing with a season-best time of 7:18.732 over Seattle U and Lewis & Clark. Dawon Lee was the Coxswain and Sarah Redmond was the stroke. Sage Iona was the coxswain and Catherine Watson was the stroke for the first varsity eight, who finished with a time of 7:09.827 as they beat Western Washington and Seattle U. The varsity four took second in their race, with Clarissa Gutierrez and Gaby Twitchell as the coxswain and the stroke respectively.
The Pilots have a week off before racing at home at Vancouver Lake in Vancouver, Wash. They'll race against Saint Mary's and Seattle U on April 16. Check PortlandPilots.com for more information.
